Farris litigator Ludmila B. Herbst, Q.C. presented at the Western Canada Commercial Arbitration Society’s annual Energy, Mining and Resources Arbitration Conference in Calgary on May 9, 2017. In her presentation she provided an update on developments in case law, legislation and arbitral rules in relation to domestic arbitration (that is, non-international arbitration). The audience included arbitrators, arbitration counsel and users of arbitration services, especially in the energy, mining and resources sector. Ludmila and fellow Farris partner David Gruber, who also attended the conference, are both members of the Western Canada Commercial Arbitration Society, a by-invitation group whose membership is open to senior, experienced international and domestic commercial arbitrators practising in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, or senior members of the bar from those provinces who have demonstrated a real commitment to the growth and development of arbitration in Western Canada.
