

On Monday, November 6, 2017, Catherine George appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada, along with Joseph Arvay, Q.C., for the hearing of Groia v. Law Society of Upper Canada, representing the interveners British Columbia Civil Liberties Association and the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society. The Groia case provides the Supreme Court of Canada with an opportunity to clarify the standards for a lawyer’s conduct when making submissions in court, a topic of great interest to the legal profession. While Catherine spent a year as a clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014-2015, this case marks her first appearance at the SCC as Counsel.
