Farris Partner, Ludmila Herbst, K.C., presented as part of a panel discussing arbitration trends in a January 27, 2022 webinar held by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Canada Branch) and the Canadian Journal of Commercial Arbitration.  The focus of the webinar, which was entitled “2021 Trendspotting: The Rise in Challenges to Arbitral Awards”, was the recent trend in Canada of increasing court challenges to the sufficiency of arbitral awards.  The panel provided tips for parties, counsel and arbitrators to reduce the likelihood of such challenges, and advice for judges in dealing with challenges when they come before the courts.  Ludmila frequently acts as counsel in arbitrations and related court challenges, as well as being the co-author of Commercial Arbitration in Canada: A Guide to Domestic and International Arbitrations.
