Daniel Pope Co-authors Senate Report
Over the course of his policy internship at the Office of Senator Rosemary Moodie, Farris Summer Articled Student Daniel Pope (né Edmeades) was charged with authoring the first draft of Senator Moodie’s report, From Vision to Reality: On a National Strategy for Children and Youth in Canada. Daniel was responsible for reviewing, summarizing, and synthesizing input from a wide variety of stakeholders during a set of roundtable discussions previously hosted by the Senator’s office. These stakeholders included large children’s advocacy groups, organizations advocating for Black and Indigenous children, and children and youth themselves. The final report and the recommendations it contained went on to inspire Senator Moodie’s Bill S-282, the National Strategy for Children and Youth Act. The Bill recently passed second reading in the Senate on June 4, 2024. You can read the full report here.
