Education

Ian obtained his J.D. from Thompson Rivers University’s Faculty of Law. During law school, he competed in the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Competition and acted as an orientation leader and mentor for first year students. For his academic achievement, he was awarded the Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP Prize in Contract Law, the Insolvency Institute of Canada Prize in Bankruptcy & Restructuring, and the Dean’s Course Prize in Mergers & Acquisitions. Ian was also an enthusiastic member of the TRU Lawggers hockey team. The Lawggers won zero hardware during his tenure on the team, which was a complete coincidence.

Prior to law school, Ian received a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Political Studies. After this, he worked at a not-for-profit in Vancouver that provides a meal delivery service to people living with HIV and, at the time, provided food provisions to people in COVID-19 isolation.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys getting outside and being active if the weather permits. If it does not, he can often be found inside watching a movie or a Canucks game.
