The horrific October 7th terrorist attacks by Hamas on Israel are an affront to humanity and have no justification or legitimacy. Farris unequivocally condemns these brutal acts of violence and is deeply troubled by the growing expressions of antisemitism and calls to violence against Jewish communities around the world, including Canada. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of Hamas’ victims and pray for the safe return of all those missing and taken hostage. We stand with the people of Israel, with our Jewish colleagues, family and friends, and with Jewish communities everywhere in their fight against hate and antisemitism. Our hearts and thoughts are also with the innocent civilians in Gaza who are immeasurably suffering due to these terrible events. Farris denounces all forms of hate, including any religious, racial and targeted hate. We are committed to supporting our colleagues who are experiencing fear, trauma and grief as we hope for peace in the region.
