Farris lawyer Thomas Ciz recently chaired CLEBC’s “Tax Reporting by Lawyers on Client Trust Accounts”. Thom’s session addressed new CRA reporting requirements that increase the information lawyers are required to report regarding their clients’ trust accounts. Thom outlined the legal framework and when the new rules apply; lawyers’ reporting obligations; and how to identify exemptions to the new rules. Thom is Associate Counsel in Farris’ Tax Practice Group. He has broad experience in taxation and corporate/commercial law, and has acted as general counsel for both public and private corporations.
