Farris Partner, Todd Bell, recently secured a major win for our client in a family law dispute. Todd acted for the Respondent wife, Ms. Tseng, against a claim by her former husband, Mr. Liou, who was seeking equal division of five real estate assets and spousal support. Our client argued that Mr. Liou had agreed not to claim an interest in her assets and that in any event, they should be reapportioned 100% to her; and that he had no legal or factual basis for a claim for spousal support. The Judge rejected Mr. Liou’s evidence and agreed with our client as to the agreement between the parties, finding that she was a very precise person with a good recollection of events, dates and times and had documents to support her position; and that in the alternative the assets should be reapportioned to her entirely in any event. The Judge also dismissed the claim for spousal support, and ultimately awarded our client a judgment for repayment of loans and funds improperly taken from a bank account, as well as costs of the entirety of the proceedings dating back to 2019.
