Jeff Glasner Discusses Tax Liability for De Facto Directors
Farris Partner, Jeff Glasner, recently wrote for Lexpert’s Legal Insights series on the Canada Revenue Agency’s approach to collecting certain corporate tax debts from former directors and other unappointed individuals. The article, “De Facto Directors: Beware of What You Did Not Sign Up For”, discusses when the CRA can treat non appointed individuals as “de facto” directors for the purposes of collecting certain unpaid tax debts of a corporation, including payroll and GST/HST remittances, as well as steps former directors and other involved individuals can take to minimize their risk exposure.
