Rebecca Morse and Michelle Moriartey Present at CLEBC Family Law Conference
Farris Partners Rebecca Morse and Michelle Moriartey shared their expertise at the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia’s ‘Advanced Financial Issues in Family Law’ conference. Rebecca’s session, “The Intersection of Property Division and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Issues,” addressed the challenges of asset and debt allocation in bankruptcy and insolvency cases, with a focus on fraud and ethical considerations in family law. Michelle presented on “Tax Issues in Divorce Settlements,” covering topics such as addressing undisclosed tax concerns and ongoing tax disputes, capital gains and principal residence issues arising on division of real property, and imputing tax.
Rebecca is a Partner is Farris’ Litigation group. She has a broad range of experience in civil litigation matters including contractual disputes, construction disputes, insolvency and restructuring matters, estate and trust disputes and international trade matters.
Michelle is a Partner in the Tax group at Farris and leads the tax litigation practice. Michelle has extensive experience in all aspects of tax litigation and dispute resolution, including representing clients in disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and the Ministry of Finance, from the audit and objection stages to appeals before the courts.
