On June 17, a ceremony was held in Victoria honouring the twenty-nine lawyers appointed King’s Counsel for 2024 in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the legal profession in British Columbia. Among this year’s appointees is Farris Partner, Nikki Charlton.

The King’s Counsel designation is awarded to members of the B.C. bar who have demonstrated professional integrity, excellence in legal practice, and meaningful contributions to the development of the legal community.

Nikki is one of British Columbia’s leading family law practitioners, recognized by Lexpert and Best Lawyers Canada for her expertise and advocacy. A bencher of the Law Society since 2024, she is also an accredited mediator, arbitrator and parenting co-ordinator. Nikki has shaped precedent-setting case law and is a respected educator, author, and conference leader. She is deeply committed to access to justice, providing pro-bono services and supporting vulnerable populations. She is a prolific contributor to continuing legal education and access to justice.
