Daxton Boeré Shines Bright in CLEBC’s Spotlight
Farris Associate, Daxton Boeré, is in the spotlight this month as part of the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia’s (CLEBC) ongoing Contributor series. Daxton first became involved with CLEBC during articling by assisting with a paper and has since relied on CLEBC’s publications and programming as a cornerstone of their legal development. Now, they’re giving back to that same community of learning and mentorship. Most recently, Daxton co-chaired A Litigator’s Arsenal, a full-day course designed for intermediate and senior litigators, offering practical strategies for every stage of a case, from pleadings through to trial.
Daxton’s path to law was anything but conventional. After working a series of physically demanding and uninspiring jobs in their early twenties, they made the decision to return to school, completing an undergraduate degree and ultimately pursuing a career in law. They soon found their passion in estate and insolvency litigation.
“The personal aspect of estate litigation stood out right away… My interest in insolvency took me by surprise, but the fast-paced and creative nature of the practice quickly drew me in.”
As a trans lawyer, Daxton has written candidly about navigating identity within the legal profession. While grateful to work in a supportive environment, they acknowledge the ongoing challenges of being visibly trans in professional spaces.
“As lawyers, our role is to advocate for others, and that can complicate the decision of when and how to advocate for ourselves.”
Outside of the office, Daxton is an avid baker, known for their multi-day cake projects and buttercream painting using palette knives. They’re also a dedicated “Unctie Dax” to their nieces and nephews, ensuring a steady supply of stylish sneakers and are well-known around the office for their exacting love of grammar.
