Rebecca Morse Shines Bright in CLEBC’s Spotlight
Farris Partner, Rebecca Morse, is featured this month in the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia’s (CLEBC) Contributor Spotlight. Rebecca is a long-time supporter and contributor to CLEBC programming, most recently co-chairing A Litigator’s Arsenal – a full-day course designed for intermediate and senior litigators that offered practical strategies from pleadings through to trial. Over the past year, she also co-chaired Bankruptcy & Insolvency 2024 and presented at Advanced Financial Issues in Family Law 2024, where she explored the intersecting complexities of family law and estate and trust matters. Her contributions reflect the broad scope of her civil litigation practice, which includes contract disputes, construction law, estate litigation, insolvency and restructuring, and international trade.
Rebecca began her legal career in England before returning to Canada in 2006. She recalls attending CLEBC seminars early in her career and gradually becoming involved as a speaker and presenter. On the diversity of her practice areas, she reflects:
“I enjoy the range and variety of work, and I believe that having different practice areas helps me be a better lawyer… I think the variety not only improves my skills but also keeps the practice more interesting.”
Her approach to practice has been shaped by mentors on both sides of the Atlantic, including a senior colleague who once reminded her that the practice of law is “a marathon, not a sprint”, advice she continues to carry forward.
Outside of the office, Rebecca is passionate about family life and travel. She spends weekends and evenings with her two teenage sons, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and cooking.
