Nikki Charlton, K.C. and Todd R. Bell Chair Family Law Conference
Farris Partners, Nikki Charlton, K.C. and Todd R. Bell, along with Morag MacLeod, K.C., recently co-chaired the 15th Biennial Family Law Conference, presented by the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC (CLEBC). The conference is the largest family law conference in the province, drawing approximately 150 registrants including leading practitioners, academics, and members of the judiciary.
In addition to their roles as co-chairs, Todd delivered two presentations. He co-presented with Associate Judge Kimberly Robertson on ‘Civility – View from the Bench and Bar’, which addressed the importance of professionalism and collegiality, particularly when engaging with self-represented litigants. He also wrote a paper and presented on ‘Agreements: Where We Are, and Drafting for (Un)Certainty’, focusing on the practical challenges of advising clients in the shifting legal landscape and drafting agreements in light of recent appellate decisions, including Bradley v. Callahan.
Nikki Charlton, K.C. is a Partner in Farris’ Family Law group. Her practice includes all matters affecting families in British Columbia such as separation, divorce, property division, common law trusts, spousal support, child support, guardianship, residency, and parenting time.
Todd R. Bell is a Partner in Farris’ Family Law group. His practice focuses on the division of high net-worth assets and all manner of parenting and custody litigation. He is a highly skilled litigator and trial lawyer with wide-ranging experience spanning all levels of court in B.C.
