These sessions offered practical legal insights to help charitable and non-profit organizations navigate compliance and governance obligations. Farris lawyer Krista Vaartnou, led three sessions covering key areas of charity law:

• Charity Compliance with CRA Regulations – exploring donation receipting rules, working with contractors, granting to non-qualified donees, and avoiding undue benefits.
• Board & Employment Policy Considerations – presented jointly with Farris lawyer, Danielle Temple, this session examined governance structures and HR best practices for non-profit employers.
• Fundraising Law & Gift Agreements – addressing CRA fundraising guidelines, case law, and best practices for drafting effective donor and gift agreements.
